If your interests are mainly in finding local food eateries and Bed and Breakfasts, this is your book. The big first clue is that the first chapter deals with BBQ restaurants in the areas surrounding Austin in more depth and detail than one can imagine.Poor maps or no maps. Nothing is treated in any depth except .. you guessed it... food.Decades ago similar guides about the back roads of Texas were published. Those were excellent. I guess I was disappointed that this modern iteration is a very pale ghost.You may like this book. I did not.
I got this book for the chapter on Big Bend park. I am planing a trip there. and got some great ideal on places to go and see from this book.
I WANTED A BOOK THAT SHOWED SCENIC ROUTES AND MAPS OF TEXAS. THIS BOOK IS MOSTLY ABOUT RESTRAUNTS IN THE TOWNS IN ROUTE.

This book contains all you need to know about Texas. It's awesome with full color photos.
Always love taking back roads to see what's there and this book makes it even easier.
This is a fine guide to Texas. We used it a lot during our road trip from Corpus Christie to El Paso. We liked the fact that even us old timers could read the print as well as get good information. Also very interesting tidbits about the areas. We especially liked the Big Bend section. Keep up the good work.
I like this book but it is not as extensive as I had hoped for so I gave it only 4 stars.
