This is my 3rd or 4th time reading this series over the last couple of years. Some people might consider this extreme.I consider it an outstanding privileges to be so entertained each and every time. I usually don't indulge in readinganything more than once but, this series is an exception to any rule. The characters never seem to bore me but,just the opposite, I discover new things about them I might have missed during the previous visits through thepages that somehow keep me coming back. I do and have recommended this series to anyone looking for an adventure among the mystical and mythicalmonsters, heroes and villains these books so vividly have to offer. I can't be sure I'd read them a fifth time but, then again, I wouldn't bet a penny I wouldn't.Thanks again for the great story telling!

Stephenie Meyers wrote the series to be about the obsession of first love and targeted primarily at mid teen girls and the first two books of the series are weaker for it in my opinion. Bella is a blank slate character who doesn't begin to really fill out personality-wise really until this third book. In many ways she comes off as cold and callous in the first book because her mind is really only focused upon Edwards flawless face. It is not until the end of the book where she she is shown to be selfless in trying to protect her family. The same could be said in the second book except it remains to be all about Edward and a bit of Jacob where nothing else really matters and everyone else is secondary. It is in this third chapter of the series that we see her world expand more and we are given a bit more interaction with others not named Edward or Jacob. She shown to have fear a concern not just in passing but consistently for those around her. This I feel adds more deapth actually to the relationship between her and Edward. It is in this where we see the Love Story go beyond someone's flawless perfection or unreadable mind. We get to see the person instead of the blank slate. it is worth noting that when this book came out the series was really taking off and becoming a national craze. not only had the character of Bella growing older but so had the original readers. I think that is why the story is a bit more mature if still appropriate for the original core audience as it will remain throughout series for the most part. It may sound weird but it's very much like the shift that occurred in the Harry Potter series where it went from being aimed at a younger audience to growing up and becoming more mature as the audience and characters group. The promise of action and danger along with a mystery makes a story more compelling so that the romance is not the sole thing holding the story up. The love triangle that was commercialized to an extreme is shown not to be as in depth or prevalent in the story itself. it's there and there is angst but there's never really anything to it. If Edward and Bella is about the obsession of first love in Jacob and Bella is about the line between loving a friend too much to let go.For those on the fence of reading the book series I would say to do so simply to know what you're talkin about if it ever comes up in conversation. In truth it is not a bad story but it is one directed toward a certain audience and readers outside of the audience have to accept that.In the end I do think it comes down to the readers taste of what kind of character they want. Authors can either make the main character have a personality that is impactful and memorable or have one that is easier to slip into because there's nothing there but an outline for the reader to fill out themselves. I believe that those who dislike the series do so because they did not want a blank slate character but one that reached out to grab the reader's attention and pulled them along the story. perhaps this is why I enjoy the last two books more than the first two because the author has filled out the outline more so that Bella feels more like a complete character.This book contains no strong language or Gore. It is a fairly clean story with the romantics limited to kissing passionately.

Girl gets boy back, then defies him to hold hands and snuggle up with a “friend” who wants to break them up.As this series progresses, I like each book a little less than the one before. Only the amusing narration, bickering, and jibes; Alice’s child-like glee; and the more serious and intriguing developments with Victoria and the Volturi kept me reading.I thought Bella had made her choice in “New Moon.” I didn’t expect to see her conflicted in “Eclipse.” She got her prince, her angel, back, and now she’s having second thoughts about the wolf? Throughout the book, Bella’s feelings for Jacob are presented as friendship. She enjoys his company and her time among the Quileutes. . Then suddenly, we are told in Chapter 26 that she is actually in love with Jacob and tempted by the life he offers her. This revelation might have been more believable if we had indications that Bella saw qualities in Jacob that Edward lacked, or that a mortal life was starting to appeal to her.My sympathy toward Bella disappeared with each choice she made to run off to Jacob and allow physical intimacies more appropriate for sweethearts than best friends. It doesn’t matter that this was how things were between them “before,” Edward had come back and the relationship was restored. It wasn’t helping Jacob let go of his romantic attachment. It just encouraged him to keep thinking that if he waited long enough, Bella would choose him. As it was, I found his cockiness off-putting and absolutely despised him for forcing himself on Bella in a sickening scene. Charlie earned a special place in “character Hell” for his approval of Jacob’s actions. Edward alone redeemed himself from the unsavory turn his character had taken by giving up trying to dictate terms to Bella and instead considering her happiness.In spite of disliking how the characters behaved in this book, I still found parts I enjoyed. Humor was sprinkled throughout, which helped tremendously with finishing the story, and the plotline with Victoria and the newborn army was riveting.By the way, does anyone else ever read about Edward’s icy body temperature and think “There are some parts of a man I really don’t want to be freezing cold”?

My second favorite out of the 4 book series. Finally on the same page that they can't stay away from each other, Edward and Bella are back together! Not that they don't have their work cut out for them with dealing with mortality, Volturi & Jacob. Not to mention high school graduation. But they are united and more in love than ever so they know they can face anything.With the threat of the Volturi coming to Forks, the wolves and the Cullens must work together to keep Bella and the town safe. We also learn more about some of the other family members and their history of how they came to be.An action packed read with welcomed moments for your heart from our favorite couple.

Am so smitten with Yukteswar having met him, as most do, through the autobiography of Yogananda. Now this is the only book Yukteswar wrote and he was asked to write it by his own guru's guru, the youth known as Babaji . . . the purpose was to point out the consistencies, congruence, compatability of the Sanatana Dharma and Christianity . . . and this he does.But even better, in his introduction, Yukteswar corrects our understanding of the time involved in the different ages on earth, called Yugas. People can despair hearing that the darkest time, the Kali Yuga is good for another four hundred thousand years. This, says Yukteswar, was a scribe's mistake actually made at the onset of the Kali when people could not understand things they understand in brighter times.Indeed, Yukteswar's math agrees with that set forth by the preceptor of the International Krishna Society in his works. Also, it agrees with the cycles of time of the Sun around whatever it orbits, the galactic center, Vishnuhabhil.Which accounts for how much light or dark we live with here on Earth. So this book is more or less a must read for both those reasons. And because it's his only book and his influence on our spiritual history is just HUGE and only known to us because of Yogananda and his writing and remembrance.In Yogananda's autobiography is a chapter in which Yukteswar makes a visit to his sishya and beloved sometime after the guru hiimself had left his physical body. In that chapter Yukteswar explains and Yogananda records the entire process of coming into and out of the body. Great great stuff and heart-warming for anyone living in confusion or despair about what is going on with us as mortals with apparently immortal souls and inspirations.

At first, I must admit, I thought that I had made a mistake in purchasing this Kindle book. Sri Yukteswar began with an array of long numbers, long words, in an attempt to explain rather complex astrological knowledge. It was all Chinese to me. Fortunately, this only lasted a very few pages. Soon, what I was to read, blew my mind!I loved this book so much that I intend on purchasing in paperback form! A must have in my physical library.What did I like about it?The chill evoking implications that Yogananda's wonderful Guru points to! This is TRULY POWERFUL information! And he explains it so simply, clearly, beautifully! It is amazing how my mind went from, "I think that I just wasted some money," to "this information is worth so much more than what I paid for it!"Sri Yukteswar even gets down to the molecular level! You ULTIMATE Power, as Self, Spirit, Brahman, The Absolute, is plainly revealed here! It is definitely one of those books that you want to begin reading all over again as soon as you are done! Highlighting all over the place and highlighting new sections on every subsequent read!

I think Vivekenanda had a lot of useful information for westerners about the relationship between eastern and western religion. This book draws parallels but seemed fairly high level, which was fine. It wasn't incredibly insightful as far as techniques go. It seemed written for someone of Indian faith that was trying to parse their deity structure and put it in a Christian context, not for the Christian to put Christianity into a Hindu context. So, if you're not familiar with Hindu Gods, you could easily get lost in the panoply of names and descriptions of their holy scriptures, which are far more complex than the bible.

The highest aim of religion is Atmajnanam, Self-knowledge.The first section of the book deals with Veda and the Gospel, and seeks to establish fundamental truths of creation and to describe the evolution and involution of the world.The book is written in the form of sutras with commentaries, e.g.Sutra 1: Parambrahma (Spirit or God) is infinite, complete, without start or end. It is one, undividable Being."The Eternal Father, God, Swami Parambrahma, is the only Real Substance, Sat, and is all in all in the universe.Now, instead of adding characteristics of God as mentioned in the verses of the Gospel (as in "God is Light" or "God is Love"), Sri Yukteswar quotes the verses,"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.""Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the son of man, then shall ye know that I am he."adding that God is incomprehensible by man of this material world (by human consciousness), and can only be comprehensible if a man lifts himself above the creation of Darkness or Maya.Sutra 2: In Parambrahma is the source of all knowing and love, the root of all power and joy.Sutra 3: Parambrahma emanates creation, inert Nature (Prakriti) to emerge. From Om (Pranava, the Word, the manifestation of the Omnipresent Force) come Kala, Time, Desa, Space, and Anu, the Atom (the vibratory structure of creation)."Sutra 4: "The fundament of creation is Anu or the Atoms. Together they are called Maya or the Lord's veil of projection; each individual Anu is called Avidya, Ignorance."Atoms are the throne of Spirit the Creator. They are called en masse Maya, the Darkness, as they keep the Spiritual Light out of comprehension, and each of them separately is called Avidya, the Ignorance, as it makes man ignorant even of his own Self.He then compares these 4 ideas which gave rise to all confusions, to the 4 bests mentioned in the chapter of Revelations of the Bible."And in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind."The Holy Ghost, being the manifestation of the Omniscient Nature of the Eternal Father, God, is no other substance than God Himself, and so these reflections of spiritual rays are called the Sons of God - Abhasa Chaiitanya or Purusha."In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehends it not."This now continues with exploration of the nature of the Ahamkara with 5 different bodies, different senses, different objects of the senses, and so on, followed by exploration of 14 spheres - seven swargas or lokas and seven patalas, five koshas or sheaths of Purusha, and different kingdoms from animal to angelic.On the 2nd birth he says "Through his luminous body, man, believing in the existence of the true Light - the Life of this universe - becomes baptized or absorbed in the holy stream of the sound. The baptism is, so to speak, the second birth of man and is called Bhakti Yoga, without which man can never comprehend the real internal world, the kingdom of God."Emancipation (Kaivalya) is obtained when one realizes the oneness of his Self with the Universal Self, the Supreme Reality.""When all the developments of Ignorance are withdrawn, the heart, being perfectly clear and purified, no longer merely reflects the Spiritual Light but actively manifests the same, and thus being consecrated and anointed, man becomes Sannyasi, free, or Christ the Savior.""Liberation is stabilization of Purusha (jiva, soul) in its real Self.""Residing in Self is liberation. When man raises himself above the idea of creation of this Darkness, Maya, and passes completely out of its influence, he becomes liberated from bondage and is placed in his real Self, the Eternal Spirit.""Then there is cessation of all pain and the attainment of the ultimate aim (true fulfillment, God-realization).""Liberation is salvation. On attaining this liberation, man becomes saved from all his troubles, and all the desires of his heart are fulfilled, so the ultimate aim of his life is accomplished.""I have said, Ye are gods;and all of you are children of the most High."

I'm someone that doesn't dance on the dance floor that often, and when someone asks me to dance I usually say no because I don't want to embarrass myself. Before I read this book I only knew of a couple of dances and their names but this book names all of them and go into detail about what each one is. It has motivated me to want to learn how to dance so that next time someone asks me, I won't say no!

This was a great book on learning ballroom dancing and I thought Brit did a great job at explaining the technicalities. Also everything was put in very simple terms that everyone can understand and he even put a section on excuses to get you started on dancing. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to start ballroom dancing!

I gave this book a five because it's easy to understand and full of useful information!Brit knows what he's talking about.

The book was well organized and informational. I enjoy all aspects of dance. I can't wait to learn Ballroom Dance!

As someone who took up ballroom dancing two years ago (and loves it) I'm always looking for books to help me improve and to get a better understanding of the world of dance. When I first started reading this book, I really enjoyed it and parts truly resonated such as "“Never memorize any lead-able pattern unless you intend to lead or teach. Become familiar with a pattern, then let it go". Obviously there are times (such as when performing) you need to memorize a pattern but the most important part for a follower (i.e.. the woman) is to learn to follow, and not anticipate. There were good basic explanations about dance terms and explanations of specific dancers such as fox trot, salsa etc. However, about half way through the book, he gets involved in detailed discussions about keeping time and counting beats. Hardly helpful to anyone wanting to know more about how to dance. He doesn't get back to the basics such as how to get more out of a lesson, or how to behave on the dance floor. So, I ended the book disappointed, so I'd give it 3.5 stars, but there are so few books like this, it's still worth reading.

Paul D. Hanson is the Florence Corliss Lamont Research Professor of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School where he has taught Old Testament for over forty years. Hanson is the author or co-author of several books and a number of noted Old Testament commentaries, including Isaiah 40-66 from the highly acclaimed Interpretation series, 2 Chronicles: A Commentary from the esteemed Hermeneia series, Political Engagement as Biblical Mandate, The People Called: The Growth of Community in the Bible, and many more. Most recently, with the release of A Political History of the Bible in America, Hanson has provided a substantial investigation into the religiopolitical relationship that permeates American civilization.A Political History of the Bible in America is a massive volume that leaves virtually no stone unturned. Still I must admit at the outset of this review that I am by no means an expert or specialist on American politics, nor American history. At best one could classify me as an interested spectator in a culturally familiar game. But, then again, this makes me a somewhat interesting candidate to do a review on a book of this magnitude.Hanson begins with a lengthy prologue in which he builds a workable framework for the road ahead, and constructs a compelling case for the overall aim of the book. Hanson explains, “Biblical history, enriched by many religious and cultural traditions, flows into and is intertwined with our nation's epic, both for better and for worse. To ignore that history is to cut ourselves off from our roots and to deny the ancestral experiences that forged our individual and collective identity” (p. 23). It is here that A Political History of the Bible in America divides into two major parts: (1) a historical retrospective on the relation between the Bible and politics in the United States, and (2) politics in the Bible.In part one, Hanson traces the history of America back to the colonial times, starting with the theocratic model of the Puritans, paying close attention to the role of biblical tradition in the development of the national story of the United States. Hanson summarizes this objective, writing, “our objective is to examine the relationship between religion and politics in US history and identify the theo-political models that were adopted and developed to shape that relationship” (p. 29). As a nonspecialist, I found this section to be both clear and compelling. Hanson quickly drew me into the historical portrait that he was painting. Nevertheless, I found myself wanting more as I entered into the following section. This is largely a result of the brevity of the first part, but also due to Hanson’s ability to pull the reader into the details of the story.In part two, Hanson directs the reader’s attention to the biblical framework in which the political underpinnings of American life have developed. To call this section a detailed study would be a minor understatement at over 500 pages. Hanson surveys both the Old and the New Testament in chronological order and presents a comprehensive study of politics in the Bible. I found this section to be rich with interpretive insight, especially when it involved discussion of the Old Testament Prophets. It is clear that Hanson is in his stride here. Another notable section was the lengthy chapter on the politics of Jesus, where Hanson aims to entertain the historical Jesus conversation and political implications of such simultaneously. Finally, the expedition comes to a close, as Hanson considers the proper methodological approach of biblical interpretation for the changing landscape of contemporary American culture.As mentioned above, I am not a political enthusiast nor an expert on American history. Still, I find both to interesting and intriguing for various reasons (hence, the desire to read and review this book), and inevitably I engage in both on a daily basis as an American citizen. Overall, Hanson has provided a fascinating and compelling study of the religiopolitical relationship in America and beyond, and I appreciate his effort in writing an accessible volume that can be enjoyed by readers of all educational backgrounds. I think that some readers will unavoidably disagree with Hanson’s interpretive method of the biblical text, but they should still be able to appreciate the biblical and theological lenses in which he wears. If you’re even slightly interested in submerging yourself into the world of American politics, then I would highly recommend finding a place for A Political History of the Bible in America in your library. About the Author

Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) was born in the small village of Kraljevec, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in Croatia), where he grew up (see right). What a book. Anyone who is serious about their life should read this book. A total masterpiece.

It's interesting and the author was obviously quite intuitive. However, it was written in a totally different era and I know through my own experiences that much of what he wrote is not correct. He also wrote it in such a stilted manner, that it's not an easy read nor is it enjoyable. I do like the meditations ,though.

Rudolf Steiner can be a difficult author to follow unless you have PLENTY of time to re-read pages and keep an OPEN MIND. He is an excellent writer, and understood the spiritual realm of our universe with zeal in a time when being open-minded was almost unheard of. We have learned lots from his books. Steiner was a CHRISTIAN who wanted to bring us more in touch with the Spirit World.

Great cookbook with a Korean flair. It has everything you wanted on korean cooking from simple and traditional cooking to westernized and colonialism influences that happened in Korea like the WW2, Korean-Chinese War, Korean war, etcetera.

Exactly what I was looking for! I love trying new foods and am always interested to make some of the recipes but ethnic food isn't always available in traditional American cook books. This book not only has just about every Korean food that I've tasted before, but, also offers a chapter on tradition and culture of Korean food preparation and serving, and even a little bit about table manners!The 135 recipes themselves range in difficulty from easy to complicated, but most seem to be on the easy side. Each recipe gives you a "prep time" and a "cook time" so that you know before you begin what to expect.The only thing that the book lacks is photos of the finished product. The image on the front is nice and I would love to see what it is that I will be cooking, especially when some of the items I have never seen, nor heard of. *I received a sample of this item in return for an honest and unbiased review*

So many delicious recipes. I really miss living in Korea and this recipe book is fairly simple to follow and fix many of my favorite dishes. It will be hard to follow these recipes if you cannot get some of the items so you either need an Asian market near you or just order the products online from Amazon. Some dishes also need special equipment but there are ways around that if needed.

This book is the best korean cookbook i have ever found. I am half korean and grew up on korean dishes, but my mom could never translate measurement amounts other than by showing me how much she scoops by hand. This author shares stories that are similar that i could relate to. I am now better able to mimic my mom's dishes.Dishes differ depending on what region in Korea you are from. These are similar to my mom's region. Also, she has some more complex dishes here that my mom never had the privilege to enjoy in Korea because of her poverty. I have had wonderful experiences cooking with my mom and hearing her stories.This book is amazing. If you want to make authentic korean food, this cook book is simple and easy to understand.

I love trying different kind of cuisines and cooking is my hobby. I love reading books on different kinds of recipes and trying them out and sharing with my family. This cookbook was quite an interesting collection to my cook books.Korean food is quite different from what I had tried before. The book itself was really fun to read. I really appreciate it when the dishes are represented with the help of pictures as it really brings out a depth to cooking and makes it even mire interesting. There were many ingredients which I did not have in my daily cooking that I had to purchase for this kind of food.All in all the recipes were not that difficult and the taste was great. There were many simple recipes to try. I enjoyed cooing them.Sample received at discount or no cost for honest opinion.

I admit i do not know much about korean food. I know i love spicy food and flavorful food so i was eager to dive into this book.The first part is all about korean food and culture history and ettiquite. I loved learning about different table manners and how food is prepared and the different types. It was a great intro and really got me psyched. You can just tell the author loves her culture and food and took great care with this cookbook.The recipes are easy to follow and the images, though feq, look delicious. There are a few ingrediants i would have a hard time finding and would have to search online but not many. Most of the recipes are simple and short with a few requiring quite a few ingrediants. All of it sounds so yummy though! Its broken down into sections and there is even a dessert part. This is a great book for korean food newbies or seasoned cooks alike and i cant wait to try some of them.Note - I have recieved this item in exchange for an honest review.

I got this cookbook because my husband loves to try new things. The recipes are easy to follow, and I like that they are broke up in different sections such as, Appetizers, Side Items, Main Courses, and Desserts for example. I think some of the desserts look like they will be amazing, and I can't wait to try out different recipes throughout this cookbook. Look up at the luscious Look Inside! feature to the Intro: "Find your inner font." Such a cool idea!! Then just browse and see how color and whimsy come together to make things of beauty. Even if you find yourself in a dark place now...perhaps "journaling" would help you sort out your feelings or at least express them. I love the journal: what person here didn't have scribbles in school notebooks (instead of doing homework or to daydream in class) or a diary you illustrated or an artbook filled with your sketches? And just in lettering your name in fun ways. The splash of color throughout the book is a mood booster itself, let alone what you'll learn about to coax out your inner artist.There's something about the alphabet, isn't there? I recall how I used to make rows and rows of A's across the bottom lines of paper when I was 4. My son just turned 21 and I've still kept a cache of his drawings from ages 2-7 with his robots, pumpkins and German shepherds (don't ask) and he kept spelling his name jamie with the "j" or "e" or both backward.I really enjoy the inspiration the author gives: many, many books like this are way too technical or way too "see how over-the-top creative I am." I usually find these are daunting or intimidating to me. But this one makes me want to race to Michael's or an art store and buy those cool papers, paints, etc.I'm ecstatic: the author is publishing this next year:The Art of Whimsical Stitching: Creative Stitch Techniques and Inspiring ProjectsFor decades, I've been a big needlework enthusiast: my walls are covered, my friends' and family's too...but, especially, I have about 700 needlework books. I'm getting into design and really only the newest publications are very helpful. (I have one needlework book from the 1970's that's entitled "Colour" (English author) and it has 4 glossy pages of color wheels and needlework and all the rest is b&w.) I don't know about you but I have found with a given author that the more she can be expert and creative in more than one technique, the more outstanding she is to explain and inspire.Get this book.

Although I enjoyed this book, it wasn't what the description and reviews implied. I was looking for a book to basically learn about lettering techniques, brushstrokes, alphabets and fonts, etc. I've been practicing from YouTube and pinterest, but I learn best from books. This book has very little lettering instruction - it basically tells you to learn to love your own handwriting style. It's mostly about different types of media for your lettering. I did learn some things about painting and masking that I didn't know, and this is definitely an inspiration to branch out from the black and white lettering projects I've done so far. However, I definitely wouldn't recommend this as an instructional book, especially for someone starting in hand lettering that is looking for practice and technique.(Disclaimer - the workbook in my pic is just some of my pinterest practice stuff and not from this book)

I stalked the ups driver, I counted the days, I checked my email daily and when it finally arrived I tried to consume all the delicious information in one day but alas, it is so packed full of information, instruction and beautiful art I had to slow down and savor it.If you are looking for a beautifully illustrated, marvelously written book on the art of lettering this is the one! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to complete each and every challenge. Joanne Sharpe has written a book that will help be become a better artist but also has me asking myself the hard questions. Questions like why I do this, am I willing to put the work into this art form and how I will use the knowledge once it is mine. II cannot recommend this highly enough...not enough stars and not enough praise for Joanne Sharpe.

Love the format, illustrations and instruction. This book is fun. I tried calligraphy and it wad too rigid for me. This is playful and perfect.

Let me begin this review by admitting that... 1. I hardly ever purchase 'How To' books, as I feel I can usually figure things out on my own without depleting my already meager budget... and 2. I very rarely ever write reviews. That all being said, you must now realize how AWESOME I think this book is!!!I have been following Joanne Sharpe for quite a while, first noticing her magazine tutorials and articles, then stalking her website, and eventually signing up for one of her online classes... which I totally enjoyed. When I realized she had written this book, I was excited... but didn't purchase it. I get mad at myself when I purchase these kinds of books, flip through them, then toss them aside to gather dust as I continue to practice on my own. Do you do that too?? So... that's why I don't buy these books any more. Well... one evening while surfing the Internet searching for inspiration for another project I was working on, I stumbled upon her AOWL Book Club. WOW! I was blown away!! An author who enhances the printed lessons via FREE online classes???? Now THAT's what I call going above and beyond!!! I watched a few of the videos... then immediately purchased the book!!! I really like Joanne's style of teaching... and am THRILLED she keeps me going back to the book and dives deeper into the lessons. Finally... A 'How To' book that gets USED instead of just sitting on the shelf. I was so in love with this idea.. that I purchased her other book, The Art of Whimsical Stitching and actually PAID for the online class that goes with it!!Why are you still reading this review? Click the 'buy' button, pull out your paper and markers, join her book club, and get creating!!!

I love fonts. I purchases this book because it looked like fun and I have an issue with breaking the norm. My creativity doesnt always come out. Ineed it ia a fun book with looks of ideas, from fonta, to backgrounds, even embroidery. Mixed media of colored pencils, gel pens, watercolora, brush pens, etc. Really good book to start off with!
