Exceeded my expectations. This book couldn't have been written better. So informative and thorough, and it's laid out in a manner that is perfect. All the information builds on itself chapter after chapter. Very fun to read! I truly cannot look at handwriting or signatures without analyzing it. It's incredible how much you will learn in this one book. I also bought handwriting analysis for dummy's and it was horrible I couldn't even get through it. It's a mess. All the information is jumbled, so I suggest you go with Andrea's book!

I am teaching forensics and I thought it would be useful for the students. It is not exactly scientific and not totally applicable. I believe the questions are a little coercive. It shows you a sample and asks, "does this sample makes you think of someone stingy/economical or larger than life". If all the writing is on one corner of the paper you say stingy/economical. It does not necessarily mean that this is the first idea that comes to your mind when you see the writing sample...

I bought this for my teen daughter for her birthday just for fun and she loves it! It's well written, thorough, detailed, and a bit addictive. She wanted to analyze everybody's handwriting after using it on her own! I was amazed at how accurate it was. I didn't get it for anything serious but this was beyond what I expected!

I really enjoyed this book. I bought it as a local professional had told me that he used handwriting analysis for hiring employees over his long career and had great success with this method. This book provided clear and easily accessible insight for the universal principles behind the use of graphology and quickly gets the reader a basic foundation. Andrea McNichol's writing is entertaining, light and helpful. This book does not pretend to be an in depth study of the science behind graphology and hits the mark with 5 stars for what it does purport to do 'Putting it to work for you'.

The book is fantastic! I never knew there was so much intricacy in handwriting.Who knew that my personality was an A typical, perfectionist who is reserved about spending money. Reading this book was quick and easy and it does a pretty good job of going through the different explanations and examples. There were a few examples where I thought it was a little hard to see exactly what she was talking about, and red arrows or circles might have helped.Overall I think the book did an excellent job of explaining graphology to someone new to it. Explanations were simple and fun - great stories behind some of the examples!I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in learning how to read handwriting.The only area it did not touch on was the concept of changing your writing, change your life - it briefly mentioned it as a possibility but nothing more.

Very enjoyable book- fun to read and illustrated with sometimes terrifying old ads for menstruation products. I got a kick out of the conversational tone of the book. However, it could have included more information regarding what is 'normal' in menstruation, to demystify some of the process. All in all it was a fun and informative read. I would recommend it for an older teen or young woman who may still be confused about the process. I would not recommend it for a young girl at her menarche- she'd be better served by a copy of "Our Bodies, Our Selves."

This is a fantastic book on many many levels. Elissa Stein and Susan Kim take on the discomfort of discussing "that time of month," talk about the awkwardness and then examine menstruation in a way that is sharp, smart, serious, laugh-out-loud funny, respectful, irreverent and best of all, friendly. It's not a science book, but it's not supposed to be one, but as a 40year old dude, I know a lot more about what goes on every 28 days today than I did before reading this book.They look at the crazy misbeliefs about menstruation throughout history... crazy and still relevant today - some of Pliny the Elder's hypotheses and attitudes about the subject can still be found today, to some extent. In the context of the mysterious uterus (once believed to be a hamster-sized organ that travelled all over the body), they look at PMS, and medical treatments for "womens problems" including the doctor treating "hysteria" with "hysterical paroxysm" (including some involving water jets that today would be blocked by Net Nanny). It's not all fun and games, though, because the treatments also include hysterectomies and the fatal results of hormone-replacement therapy for post-menopausal women (once believed to be a benefit, the human trial of hormone treatments was stopped in 2002 when it turned out to significantly increase health problems across the board).My favorite favorite favorite parts of this book discuss the role of marketing and advertisements for feminine products and how these have "educated" us over the years. Commercials with mysterious blue liquids! White swimsuits and beach images! The book is filled with gorgeous copies of print advertisements from the last century, from when Kotex was first advertised (convenient way to sell off bandage material from WWI), to images of freedom and freshness (white swimsuits and all) from the 70's and 80's to today. These are fascinating to see, especially with Stein and Kim discussing these ads and the attitudes of the times.As something that really should be in a note for the paperback edition, when Apple's iPad was announced, the internet exploded with menstrual humor, but most hilarious of all was the official demo video that practically, unintentionally use much of the imagery from the last few decades of femcare advertising. I guess the marketing guys at Apple never paid attention to those campaigns.Fantastic book - five stars. Really, it's a must-read, an excellent excellent book.

Should be called Flow: Some Historical Tidbits Interspersed with Ranting Plus More Information About the Mechanics of Menstruation and Menopause Than Should Really Be Included.Although the book starts out with the promised historical content, it quickly shifts into blaming men for the existence of everything from sexism to PMS, saying that women would never start wars, and preaching at the reader. It's chock-full of statements like "We're not saying that PMS doesn't exist" (after pages of saying PMS was made up by evil male doctors) and "We're not saying you have to enjoy menopause" (after pages of making one feel bad about even considering hormone replacement therapy.)For $14 on the Kindle, I could have bough ten much better books. This is a rip-off and makes me want to stand barefoot in a kitchen somewhere, just to be irksome.

WOW what a fascinating book about a taboo topic! Three out of every four Americans surveyed say this subject should never be an acceptable topic for discussion.

i enjoyed reading the horror stories of how periods were treated in the past. however, i felt this book would be better as a coffee table book, and i downloaded the kindle version. it was suggested for the kindle dx, but its really better on the computer, in color. since its so good in color, i suggest getting it in print.

Full disclosure -- #ILOVEARSENEWENGER. A friend from the UK sent this to me because she knows it and all I can say is AT LAST!!! HE'S MINE! This is the sort of book a fan like me will pour over time and again. It covers the entire length of his career at Arsenal and includes photographs of all the greats, the trainings, the big matches, the behind the scenes mucking about, the victory celebrations and there's even a final chapter with snapshots of every player who appeared under Wenger in his 20 years up to May of this year. With a foreword by the man himself and little anecdotes from him that complement Stuart McFarlane's official club photos -- this is one book every Arsenal fan is gonna want. Doesn't matter what you think of Wenger today -- he built an empire and his legacy is packaged up and delivered beautifully in this wonderful retrospective. I've never admired a manager more...I want 20 more.

This appears to be a pocket reference of other published works and I was very disappointed there didn't appear to be anything new or original. Even the comments and introductions were too familiar. If you already have Rosemary's Herbs for Beginners and Recipes for Vibrant Health then you already have the contents of this book.I adore everything about Rosemary Gladstar and appreciate her style of communication. I was really looking forward to some new recipes, expanded content and greater depth of herbal beauty knowledge. I feel violated. One lip balm recipe, two body scrubs, one salt the other brown sugar, you get the idea.If you have a young daughter in the house this would be a nice reference for her to use for slumber parties.

I love all of Rosemary's books. I have used the recipes for friends and family for a while now and I have been very satisfied with the results. They have been very pleased with them also.

Last March I was fortunate to be able to attend the “Einstein gala” which is the main fundraising event of the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, here in Albuquerque, as a guest of the former Board Chair. Each year at the gala, they present the National award to a prominent individual or organization who has had an impact on nuclear issues. After attending the event in 2012, I decided to read the recent book of the award winner, Dr. Lisa Randall Knocking on Heaven's Door: How Physics and Scientific Thinking Illuminate the Universe and the Modern World. Likewise, in 2015, I decided to read the book of the award winner, Gwyneth Cravens, a commitment I managed to fulfill in less than a year.During her acceptance speech, she spoke of her childhood in Albuquerque, playing in the arroyos in the desert, quite possibly where my house is now located. She also introduced Dr. Rip Anderson, who initially challenged her to reexamine her anti-nuclear bias, and was her guide around the nuclear world, and a rational “touchstone” by refuting many of the arguments, often ill-founded, that inhibit our development of a resource that is our best option for “saving the world.”The author commences with an epigram from Richard Rhodes, the author of (The Making of the Atomic Bomb) who in turn quotes Niels Bohr on the relentless goal of science being the “removal of prejudices.” In her text, in passing almost, she also quotes an equally apt passage from George Eliot’s Middlemarch (Penguin Classics): “Everyone liked better to conjecture how the thing was, than simply to know it; for conjecture soon became more confident than knowledge, and had a more liberal allowance for the incompatible.”In addition to “the brains” of the Manhattan Project being in Los Alamos, NM, and the first atomic bomb being detonated at Trinity site, near Alamogordo, NM, the state was the source of substantial amounts of uranium. The first stop on her “nuclear tour” was Ambrosia Lake, west of Mt. Taylor. With clear and lucid explanations, she ties together the work of Madam Curie, the significance of the U-235 isotope of uranium, and the boom-and-bust cycle of uranium mining, with Navajo Indians playing a prominent role.With the help of Dr. Anderson, and with a considerable amount of hassles in the “post 9/11 era”, she would manage to tour the Idaho site, where nuclear reactors were deliberately put to extreme tests, and “melted down” on occasion. One of the meaningful comparisons she was able to make was a tour of two Duke Power plants in the Carolinas, one nuclear, the other coal fired. She toured Three Mile Island, the site of the most famous nuclear mishap in the United States, and relieved my brain of some of the useless misconceptions I still carried about it. Vicariously, via Dr. Fred A. Mettler, Chair of the Radiology Department of the Univ. of New Mexico, she would “tour” the worst disaster in the history of nuclear power: Chernobyl. He was a major investigator of this event. She also toured WIPP, the operating nuclear waste depository in southeastern NM, as well as the non-operational money sink hole of Yucca Mountain in Nevada.Cravens provided numerous “takeaways.” These include the fact that “risk” in the nuclear field is still being measured by the “linear non-threshold hypothesis” (LNT). An apt comparison can be to having one’s hand being burned in 212 degree F. water. Using LNT, if a million people placed their hands in 36 degree F. water, 500 would receive third-degree burns. In essence, small amounts of radiation are still considered dangerous, and are not related to the amount of radiation people receive naturally. For example, as Cravens points out, people will double the amount of background radiation by simply moving from Long Island, in New York to Albuquerque, because those living at higher altitudes receive more background radiation. She also relates a meeting of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, in which the assessment was: isn’t the massive amount of safety redundancies in the nuclear field a waste of money compared to anything else we do, for example, the operation of coal-fired plants that spew far greater amounts of toxins into the environment?To some degree Cravens addresses the problem, but I feel it needs a much more thorough review, because it remains the “essential problem.” For example, she cites how additional radiation was detected by Duke Power, on workers coming from a site in Ohio, which, admittedly had a reputation as being poorly run. The response from the Ohio site: denial and defensiveness. Radiation IS an issue of which the public is poorly informed, and the images of Hiroshima and Chernobyl dominate. She speaks of tough regulators overseeing, and the honest and integrity of the workers in the nuclear field, of which, I am sure there are some, but what also dominates the public perceptions are the continued lies and inactions and cover-ups in widely disparate governmental (and yes, corporate!) areas from FEMA and Katrina, to the SEC and Bernie Madoff, through the Veterans Administration and HHS implementation of the ACA, Worldcom, Enron, and the latest outbreak of killing substances in the food industry, et al. And what can be done about putting the public’s mind at ease about that?Overall though, despite some justified reservations, Cravens did convince me that a vigorous program to adopt nuclear power in the United States, as France has long done, is not merely an option that is 20% better, but rather an entire magnitude better. 5-stars for an essential read.

Power to Save the World is simultaneously a coming-of-age memoir and a technical treatise on nuclear power. Although Ms. Cravens is not a scientist, she is a heck of a good writer. If, like Joe Friday, your mantra is “just the facts maam”, this book may not be for you. But for the rest of us, this is an education into the most arcane depths of nuclear history & technology that instead feels like poetry.From her childhood in the outskirts of Albuquerque, to her life as an anti-nuclear campaigner, to her education at the hands of some of the world’s top scientists, we follow Ms. Craven’s personal journey and share in the details of her transformation and education. She has an amazing ability to translate arcane, technical concepts into beautiful prose that lays bare the magic and mystery.I listened to the Audible version of the book and the narration by Christine Williams was simply sublime. I highly recommend this important book and in particular, recommend the audio version for it’s beautiful narration.

Think Three mile island and Chernobyl.Just look at the worlds burning of fossil fuels and the resulting devastation, e.g. climate change, health impairment, overall planted destruction;I would have to agree that going nuclear is a reality that needs to be implemented ASAP.
