I strongly suggest downloading the sample. The author clearly states that he not only altered the form, but also the content. For example, he says he played down or eliminated all references to the Jews because they were demonized by the text. Since, what I wanted to see was how the Gospel was presented to the Saxons, this book (the only Kindle version available) did not suit my purposes. I didn't get any further than the introduction. So the three stars were because it wasn't what I needed. His scholarship and knowledge looked fine, to my undereducated eyes. And he is very clear about how he altered the content. I really can't see the point in making a thousand year old piece of propaganda more currently PC, but if you do, this may be the book for you.
